After completion of our first fire station in 2017, we were hooked on these types of utilitarian public buildings that are complex in infrastructure and design.

The original program for the 18,000 SF facility includes a 5-bay fire station that houses the ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting) vehicles that serve the airside operations area of the airport.  Additionally, a single bay fire station serving the surrounding (landside) community including the terminal buildings was added to the original program.

This hybrid fire station is unique to the San Jose Fire Department and also includes living quarters and work areas for a staff of 10.  The project is designed as part of a 3-building campus and the first of these enabling projects that will allow for the expansion of Terminal B. MarJang’s design for the neighboring SJC Facilities Administration, Shops and Fleet Maintenance Buildings is currently underway.
